If you need industrial or commercial valves, you must find the right designs and materials to meet your application’s needs. At RED-WHITE VALVE CORP., we offer many types of commercial and industrial valves made with a range of materials. Our selection includes valves available in cast iron, standard bronze and brass alloys, carbon steel, stainless steel, and thermoplastic for heating and cooling, manufacturing, plumbing, agricultural, petrochemical, and other applications.

Find out more about the different valves we offer and how you can use them for your application.

The Different Types of Industrial & Commercial Valves

Depending on your needs, we offer several types of commercial and industrial valve designs, including:

  • Ball Valves: These valves use a ball-shaped insert with a hollow center to begin and stop the flow of liquids when the valve makes a quarter-turn. They feature simple designs that reduce maintenance requirements, expand their lifespan, and minimize the risk of leakage.
  • Check Valves: These are one-way valves that automatically channel fluid in a single direction. Many applications use these, including HVAC systems, gas lines, and pumps.
  • Butterfly Valves: These quarter-turn valves work using a metal disc that rotates in a perpendicular position to the fluid stream while closed. These valves offer superior reliability and accuracy, making them popular in many applications.
  • Balancing Valves: Some applications may use these valves to control the flow of multiple branches in a system, such as a fluid power or HVAC systems.
  • Gate Valves: Unlike other types of valves, gate valves prevent the flow of liquids instead of controlling it. They block the flow of liquids using a metal plate known as a “gate” that sits in the fluid stream.
  • Globe Valves: A spherical disc gives this valve its name. The disc moves to closed and open positions in a linear motion to stop and start the flow of liquids.

Valve Materials

You may use one or more of the following types of valve materials depending on performance and other requirements:

Standard Brass and Bronze Alloys

Applications may use either brass or bronze, which are similar in their appearance and composition but different in their properties and cost. Bronze often comprises copper and tin, but it may also include manganese or aluminum. Brass materials consist of copper and zinc alloys and offer more malleability and versatility than bronze. Both materials work in many applications.

Cast Iron

Some valves may contain cast iron materials, which consist of silicon and carbon and are very popular in plumbing and other applications. Cast iron is highly resistant to heat and offers superior strength.

Ductile Iron

This modern iron alloy features graphite construction in a nodule shape. It offers more ductility than conventional iron, making it easier to bend without breaking while also boasting excellent tensile and yield strength and corrosion resistance.

Stainless Steel

In applications requiring corrosion resistance, stainless steel valves offer consistent reliability. The chemical and petrochemical industries often use stainless steel valves, along with many other industries where corrosion is a potential risk.

Carbon Steel

Carbon steel is duller than stainless steel in appearance, but its carbon construction offers more durability, increased workability, and better heat distribution.

Thermoplastic

Some applications may benefit from thermoplastic valves instead of metal valve materials. Thermoplastics like polyvinyl chloride (PVC) are highly resistant to corrosion, lightweight, non-toxic, and chemical-resistant.
