Dezincification is a corrosion process, caused by the contact with water, which selectively removes zinc from the copper alloys, leaving behind a porous and copper-rich structure with reduced mechanical strength.
Dezincification-resistant (DZR) brass contains additional elements which are able to inhibit this process and – particularly for the hot-formed pieces – presents a controlled structure after heat treatment which provide an effective resistance to dezincification. In order to investigate the actual resistance to the dezincification and stress corrosion cracking of the RWV Products made in Lead Free DZR Brass C27453, a qualified third-party laboratory performed all the test required by the international recognized reference standard.
